Overview
A sleeping pad is not just cushion. It is half the warmth equation and most of the comfort equation.
The V-chambers cradle hips and shoulders so you do not get that pool-float wobble. Under-inflate a touch and it settles: weight spreads out, side sleeping feels more normal, and you are less likely to roll off the edge. The insulation helps on clear shoulder-season nights where cheap uninsulated pads can make a good sleeping bag feel weaker than it is.
The honest limitation is size and noise. It is still an air pad, and narrow pads can feel fussy if you move a lot. If you car camp more than you backpack, a wider or thicker pad may be a better comfort upgrade.
If the ground is the reason you keep sleeping badly, fix the pad before blaming the tent.
